Tesla’s new Model 3 Highland has delivered a remarkable performance in road tests, exceeding official EPA estimates. In a test conducted by the Out of Spec Reviews YouTube channel, the Model 3 Long Range version covered a total of 597 km at 112 km/h on the highway. That’s a full 48 km more than the EPA’s 549 km range estimate. What’s more, this test was conducted only on the highway, meaning that this feat was achieved even without using city traffic advantages.

In general, electric vehicles operate more efficiently in the city thanks to advantages such as regenerative braking. They can recover energy during stop-and-go traffic in city traffic. On the highway, this advantage disappears, and more energy is usually consumed. However, the Tesla Model 3 Highland managed to prove its superior efficiency even on the highway.
During the test, the 2021 Model 3 was also tested under the same conditions, and this model could only offer a range of 479 km. However, it should be taken into account that the 2021 Model 3 has traveled 30 thousand km and its battery has lost some capacity. Still, it is noteworthy that Tesla did not use new battery technology in the 2024 model. This significant increase in range was achieved entirely thanks to software improvements and better aerodynamic design.
These results once again demonstrate Tesla’s competence in increasing the efficiency of electric vehicles through software developments. With its longer range and better aerodynamic structure, Tesla is preparing to consolidate its leadership among electric vehicles.
